Magazine Submissions

You may submit in multiple categories and are welcome to submit additional work in a genre once you've heard back from us.

PPM publishes art and writing created by women-identifying artists and writers that is focused on women's experiences. We seek work that provokes deeper reflection and strive to bring readers striking and powerful works that inspires. Our vision is to give voice to women's issues and experiences. Our diverse membership spans the globe and is comprised of well-established contributors to new and emerging.

When considering what might fit the magazine's vision, check out previous issues and consider the following. ✦PPM celebrates art and writing that reflects women's issues and interests. ✦We promote work that embodies the female at the center of experience, whether it be sociopolitical, professional, personal, domestic, relational, and/or spiritual. ✦While we will consider republishing writing, priority is given to first time publication of a piece.

Include a brief bio--under 150 words--in your cover letter. Then, select your submission type [poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, articles/contributor queries, and art] and follow the instructions listed for your selected genre.

  • For poetry, submit up to five poems in a single file upload (docx/pdf). Please use single spaced 12 pt, Times New Romans font.
  • For short fiction and creative nonfiction, submit up to two short stories or personal essays in a single file attachment (docx/pdf). Please use 12 pt, Times New Romans font.
  • For those interested in contributing articles and pitching ideas, submit essays or queries in a single file attachment (docx/pdf). Please use 12 pt, Times New Romans font. To become a contributing writer by developing or reprinting an article or interest piece in a future issue, send a file of the full article, a link to previously published articles, or a 150-word query to pitch new work.
  • For art, send up to ten images as attachments, preferably in JPG format. Send images in a high res, publish ready quality.

You may submit in multiple categories and are welcome to submit additional work in a genre once you've heard back from us. Also, we are still considering writing and art submitted during the last open call. Thanks for your patience.   PPM publishes art and writing centered on woman, be this the mundane, the fantastical, or with feminist influences. We seek art and writing that provokes deeper reflection. We strive to bring our readers striking and powerful art and writing that inspires. Our diverse membership spans the globe and is comprised of well-established artists and writers to new and emerging. Our vision is to give voice to women's issues and experiences. If something fits the current issue, that is what will define it being accepted for publication.

When considering what might fit our vision, consider the following and check out previous issues. ✦ This is a WOMEN ONLY publication. This does not mean we wish to exclude men's voices in our discussions or forums that may later be included in an issue, rather that the works we publish have to be generated or owned by the woman submitting them. ✦We're a publication and environment for women and will celebrate all art and writing that reflects women's issues in our current environment. With each publication, our hope is to have things be stimulating. ✦ We look to promote work that embodies the female at the center of experience, whether it be political, professional, personal, domestic, relational, social, and/or spiritual. The guideline for how well these elements fit the vision of the mag will depend on how the central focus of the piece remains on the woman inside and outside of these influences. Include a brief bio--under 150 words--in the comment section of your submission. Then, select your submission type [poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, articles/contributor queries, and art] from the dropdown list. Follow the instructions listed for your selected genre, which will specify submission criteria.

  • For poetry, submit up to six poems in a single file upload. Please use 12 pt, Times New Romans, single spaced font for poetry. Our preferred file attachment types are .doc/docx/pdf. If your formatting uses special spacing as part of its poetic form, it might make best sense to save your file as a PDF so your formatting isn't lost during transmission. While we will consider republishing writing, priority is given to first time publication of a piece.
  • For fiction and creative nonfiction, submit up to two short stories or personal essays in a single file attachment. Though we occasionally accept longer works, pieces that are 3500 words or less tend have a better chance for placement. Our preferred file attachment types are .doc/docx/pdf. Please use 12 pt, Times New Romans font unless your intentional form calls for different font and spacing. If your formatting uses special spacing as part of its creative form, it might make best sense to save your file as a PDF so your formatting isn't lost during transmission. While we will consider republishing writing, priority is given to first time publication of a piece.
  • For those interested in contributing articles and pitching ideas, submit essays or queries in a single file attachment. Our preferred file attachment types are .doc/docx/pdf. Please use 12 pt, Times New Romans, double spaced font unless your intentional form calls for different font and spacing. If your formatting uses special spacing as part of its creative form, it might make best sense to save your file as a PDF so your formatting isn't lost during transmission. To become a contributing writer by developing or reprinting an article or interest piece in a future issue, send a file of the full article, a link to previously published articles, or a 150-word query to pitch new work. PPM aims to include at least two articles each issue developed by contributing writers. We have also selected essays on art, art history, or other related topics when they fit that edition’s interests. Articles and queries that fall into any of these categories are welcome.
  • For art, send up to ten images as attachments, preferably in JPG format. Send images in a high quality, publish ready resolution. If we need a higher resolution version of an image for publication purposes we'll notify you. Not sure what PPM is looking for? See images in previous issues or throughout our website.
